Bridal trials are an opportunity to experiment with your vision of how you would like to look on your wedding day. Makeup should be worn to enhance your natural beauty, while you still feel you look like yourself - just a more "glamorous" version.
Bridal trials are usually 2 hours long, and I offer a consultation about your style, dress, hairstyle etc, so we can perfectly align your style and personality with your makeup. I recommend also researching some looks and colours so that we can discuss your mood board of inspirations.
If you've dreamed of wearing an ultra-flawless finish on your big day then airbrushing is the most revolutionary way forward in foundation application. Airbrush makeup is long wearing and feels featherlight on the skin. If you are interested in how airbrushing will look on the day, then its advisable to use the trial to experiment. Airbrush makeup comes in 2 formats, silicone and water based, of which silicone is the one most commonly used for beauty makeups. The reason airbrush makeup feels so light on the skin is because of the pressure through which tiny particles of product sprays, very similar to a fine mist. Airbrushing is a popular medium since the advent of HD media, and is therefore also a popular choice for brides who like a polished HD finish.
For those who would prefer a more traditional application of foundation, then its advisable to consider wearing a primer under your foundation. During your trial we will discuss your skin type so that we select a foundation that is suitable for your specific skin. So, for example, if you are likely to get oily in your T-zone, then I will use a primer and foundation that maintains a matte finish that is essential for those perfect wedding photographs!
Bridal Eye makeup is usually in more subtle, muted tones. Depending on whether you are wearing more cold or warm tones in your jewellery and general wedding colour scheme, most brides tend to opt for neutral cool tones (such as earthy plum/grey/pink) or neutral warmer tones (such as bronze/ golds/beige/cream). During your trial we will explore your preferences and I will advise on application techniques for your eye shape. As a general rule of thumb, I recommend keeping with eye shadow textures that do not have large glitter particles since they do not reflect well in photography. Rather I recommend shadows with a shimmer reflect, if any, to add a touch of lightness to the eyes.
Eyeliner is a very personal choice and everyone has a way in which they like to wear it. Some prefer it to encapsulate the eye, while others like it only on the top lid. Naturally, we will explore this as well!
False lashes are another option most brides will consider unless you are gifted and blessed with beautiful long lashes! Lashes give a bridal makeup a touch of glamour to bring the look to a higher level of refinement. If you decide that false lashes are right for you, it is also advisable to try them at the time of the trial so that you know whether you are comfortable wearing them and how it enhances the overall aesthetic. False lashes are simple to remove and re-use -good to know for the honeymoon!
Shading, contouring and highlighting should always be incredibly subtle for the day of your wedding. Bridal makeup is soft, fresh and pretty and intense contouring is very noticeable in wedding photography. Wedding makeup is the perfect example of "makeup" that is meant to look like very little "natural makeup!"
Trends in lip textures are now leaning more often towards satin finishes as opposed to super glossy finishes. Satin textures are long wearing and hold up a bit better against all those kisses you will be blowing out on your day! It is also very popular to wear a slight gloss over, especially if you want to accentuate the size of your lips.
On the day of your wedding, I always recommend having a couple of key products at hand (often in a bridesmaids purse), to touch up with on your wedding day. A pressed powder to control any shine and your lip colour to re-apply. I often give recommendations after your trial to make the selection as smooth as possible.
